As I’ve reiterated in several posts afore, there are a number of possibilities when it comes to interpreting any single UFO event, including, at a minimum:
1. Simple natural phenomena misidentified (weather events, balloons, etc.),
2. Undisclosed gov/paramilitary tech,
3. Spiritual phenomena.
Now, I’ve tended to focus on the third category. But while many UFO sightings may be (and I think are) spiritually manifested phenomena, an important category we need to keep in mind is the reality that there are some truly mind-bending human technological advancements going on behind the scenes that we usually fail to account for (in large part because they’ve been concealed).
The seemingly physical nature of craft, the effects they leave behind, supposed crash retrievals, etc, are almost certainly sometimes the result of real, physical, black budget projects run by government and paramilitary operations. The truth is not only that the spiritual is much more real than we tend to conceive of it, but also that the technological advancements being concealed behind black budgets and denials are much more mind-bending, bizarre, and, frankly, sorcerous than we tend to imagine.
One example of the kind of scientific advancement I’m talking about is the long-shrouded efforts in harnessing zero-point energy, developing warp drive, and gravitic propulsion.
To review, the “zero-point field” refers to the lowest energy state of the “vacuum” of space, characterized by random electromagnetic fluctuations even at absolute zero temperature. The zero-point field (ZPF) idea basically posits that:
The quantum vacuum is a real, measurable field (as I explain here, it’s not a vacuum).
Particles like electrons are not point-like dots, but stable excitations in this field.
Gravity, inertia, and mass may all arise from interactions with the ZPF.
We may be able to extract usable energy from this field — “zero-point energy.”
And this isn’t fringe anymore — less and less so, at least. It has been published in peer-reviewed physics journals. It’s being taken seriously by military researchers and black-budget energy programs. Dr. Salvatore Pais, for example, posits that by controlling the accelerated spin or vibration of electrically charged matter, high-energy electromagnetic fields can be produced.
One of the reigning understandings of gravitic propulsion is that it’s possible to basically generate a warp bubble around the craft, so that (as I understand it) two things are accomplished: (1) the craft could then create a pressure sink in front of it, so that it’s effectively “falling” forward at a rate that, from our vantage point of observation, would appear to defy physics as we understand it, because (2) the craft itself (and any potential occupants inside the craft) would not feel any of the intertial effects normally expected at those rates of acceleration. Hal Puthoff discussed this concept somewhat obliquely some 25 years ago in this interview.
This could potentially explain a number of UFO sightings that seem to defy the laws of physics, such as the tic tac UFO recorded by Commander David Fravor off the USS Nimitz, which is now believed by many to be an example of breakthrough technology developed by Lockheed Skunk Works.
When Christian ufologists see evidence of UFO’s seemingly defying the “laws” of physics as we understand them, they can be quick to declare that these events must be supernatural. But we must be careful not to jump to conclusions too quickly (Pr 18:13, 17).
Some argue that if these crafts were US military, then you wouldn’t have “whistleblowers” like Fravor and others who know nothing about them. Of course, it takes a level of naïveté of cosmic proportions to overlook the fact that most people in the visible military would be completely sealed off from any such information. It’s an extremely small number of people who would actually be read in to any program of the scale and import suggested by the tech hypothesis.
Michael Heiser once observed:
Due to the selective nature and compartmentalized project structures of the nation’s most secret experimental aircraft programs (e.g., the A-12 Oxcart and SR-71 Blackbird in the late 1950s/early 1960s), very few of the nation’s experienced military pilots knew such craft existed. There is no reason to suspect that experienced navy pilots would know what the “tic tac” was if it indeed is a secret black-budget technology. In addition, the unthinkable speeds and maneuvers of such craft are only “impossible” if gravity is in play—but what if there existed gravity modification technology, developed by the United States or some other nation? The existence of such technology would mean appeal to these craft capabilities as evidence of extraterrestrial existence would have no persuasive power.
There have been a number of articles about this over the last several years. Here just a few examples of such articles that Heiser documents; take a moment to read these titles.

Further Evidence for Human Involvement
As I’ve mentioned before, one of the deeply disturbing lines of evidence with regard to the abduction phenomena in particular, points toward human perpetrators — government and paramilitary black-budget operations. As to why they would carry out these crimes, there are a number of guesses. But it does seem to account for at least some of the experiences. Jaques Vallee, in 1992, wrote: “I have secured a document confirming that the CIA simulated UFO abductions in Latin America (Brazil and Argentina) as psychological warfare experiments.” The Strategic Studies Institute, which is the U.S. Army's institute for strategic and national security research and analysis, published a document in 1995 detailing plans for faked alien abductions.
(Of course, there are also credible abduction accounts that should probably be understood as real encounters with demonic entities. This is supported by the documented evidence that a large proportion of abductions can be stopped in their tracks by calling on the name of Jesus Christ; see Joe Jordan’s work with the CE4 Research Group.)
If you want to learn more about the evil perpetrated by human operators under the pretext of extraterrestrial activity, as well as further evidence of mind-bending technological advancements, you can find more primary documents at the Disclosure Project Intelligence Archive. Be warned though, the archive is the work of Steven Greer, and so must be viewed somewhat discerningly (see why here).
My point is simply this: Christians should be slow to jump to conclusions, and willing to study carefully before declaring the supernatural.
That being said, of course the Bible does not rule out genuinely preternatural phenomena in the skies. Satan is the prince of the power of the air (Eph 2:2), and mysterious aerial phenomena is almost certainly part of his strategy to shift the world’s attention away from Christ and toward false wonders.
There are strange things in heaven and earth. But we have something more sure: the prophetic word (2 Pet 1:19). Let Scripture be your interpretive lens—not fear, not curiosity, not even experience.
Test all things. Hold fast to what is good. (1 Thess. 5:21)
Hold fast to the authority of the Word of God as received. (2 Tim 1:13; Titus 1:9)
Stay on the alert; stand firm in the faith; act like men; be strong. (1 Cor 16:13)
Remember: whatever they are showing the public, they are at least 50 years ahead of that.
